South Park City Museum

Great Museum!! Took my teens and they seemed to really enjoy themselves! Love that it’s an open walkable museum because you are able to almost stand right in the past’s shoes. The employees seemed to really love their jobs and are so friendly! Went in on the 4th to be greeted by Uncle Sam! Spent an hour or more walking through and taking lots of pictures. Love the gift shop, another great employee. Felt really free to look around before really deciding what to get and left with both teens EXCITED to come back!

Nederland Mining Museum

What a gem of a museum! Susan walked us around and had some great history and a love of mining to share. If you happen to be in Nederland when it is open, it’s worth the stop! Don’t forget to see the last Bucyrus Erie steam shovel that helped dig the Panama Canal!

Headwaters River Journey

Great little museum that is very informative about ecology and conservation of rivers in CO. Lots of hands-on, high-tech interactive exhibits that my 12, 8 and 5 yr olds loved! It looks like it would be a classy venue as well. We took a quick little walk on the Fraser River Trail afterwards. Recommended!

Blue River State Wildlife Area Eagles Nest Unit

Great fishing spot with deep pools and pocket water. The water runs fast so better for late summer fishing but there is enough structure for trout to rise to dries in the early summer as well.

Uptripping

I loved exploring Uptripping and all the things they had in their shop. There was plenty of furniture throughout, as well as wall art to buy. It’s on the main drag in Winter Park but is a bit hard to find. But it’s definitely worth making a bit of effort to find. It’s a great place to find furnishings and art for your second home in the mountains, or something to take back with you wherever you’re from. I make it a point to stop here when I’m in town because there’s always something new to find and get inspired by.
