Kaboom Books
This is what a bookstore should be! Floor to ceiling books with a bunch of rooms that smell like old books, with nice owners, good stories. My daughter got to pet the super sweet shop dog.
We went on a Sunday, so the traffic wasn’t too bad, but we still had to park behind the store.
The books stretched back in time to the present. Prices were slightly higher then expected, but this isn’t just an old paperback bookstore either. Overall, it was a very nice visit and we will visit again next time we’re in the area.

We recently tried Sky High Pie pizza and it was fantastic! The atmosphere is cozy, with ceiling lights that subtly evoke the town’s extraterrestrial vibe. Plus, the Sunday market adds to the charm. We opted for takeout, and the truffle pizza was delicious! Highly recommend checking it out for a tasty bite in a fun setting.
The Kama Connection
I adore Mindy and her shop, the Kama Connection. A very enjoyable shopping experience – low pressure, so accommodating, and great conversation if you’re interested in that! So many beautiful clothing items, some of which Mindy designed herself. I have bought so many dresses and other items that are fun, comfortable, and get so many compliments. She makes really special malas and other jewelry. And I love that she supports local jewelry artists, small family businesses abroad, and woman entrepreneurs. Highly recommend visiting!!!!
Roaming Travelers – Boutique Shop
Great little boutique hidden in downtown Joshua Tree! Andrew and Chelsea have an amazing eye for trendy apparel and accessories that work perfectly for the desert, and as a bonus, they’re both a pleasure to chat with. This is one of the best places to go in town to find something stylish and unique for yourself or as a gift. I highly recommend checking them out if your town, and especially if you’re around during the Joshua Tree Night Market on the second Saturday night of each month!
